Happy Chinese New Year!
This Saturday, February 13th is Chinese New Year's Eve. Sunday is the beginning of the Spring Festival. Hopefully "the year of the tiger" will be filled with good health and prosperity. If anyone would like to share how they are going to celebrate the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival, please do so--and perhaps post a few pictures too. Xīn Nián Kuài Lè!

ReplyDeleteIt's a festival for family reunion. Usually we clean the house thoroughly; we sit together, make dumplings and other dishes, and watch CCTV New Year's Eve TV show (that lasts four hours from 8pm to 12 am). We usually stay up late until midnight, and it is the time for fireworks(it was banned for years due to the safety)! During the first week especially the first three days, people visit relatives and friends, or call them. Kids get red envelop and candies. The second day is the day when married women go back to their parents' home.
Chinese people in different area cook different dishes, but dumplings and fish are the main food.
